The Casting Process

The casting process is incredibly gentle and most importantly- safe. Some newborn babies will even sleep through it!

Alginate is used to create the mould, it is natural and plant derived, made from seaweed and is most commonly used to make dental impressions in the mouth so is very safe and suitable for even the most delicate of baby skin.

For hands/feet I will dip the hand/foot into a smooth tub of alginate and after a couple of minutes it will form a rubbery consistency and be ready to slide the hand/foot out.

For other body parts such as faces I apply the alginate and then attach plaster bandage, once this has hardened I will then release the mould.

Once that is done you are free to leave me to finish the rest of the casting and finishing process!

I will get your final displayed/mounted casts back to you within 4-6 weeks
